OCT 10, 2016 – Digital Equipment Communication Ltd (DEC) and ZenMate Announce Global Strategic Alliance
DEC and ZenMate team up to drive industry transformation in Virtual Private Networks (VPN) cybersecurity with a new envisioned product.
In a move to accelerate the development of cybersecurity and VPN devices, DEC and ZenMate will jointly launch Navia, a portable device that is small enough for users to carry around and safely connect to the Internet without any IT configuration or software setup.
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) allow home users or companies to remotely connect to networks, encrypting traffic and enjoying a safe and sound business or leisure Internet experience. Companies and individuals usually use VPNs to get access to network resources when they are not physically on the same Local Area Network (LAN), or as a method for securing and encrypting their communications when they are using a public network or untrusted hotspot.
Started in 2012, ZenMate is a globally known brand and are backed with $7+ million funded by a group of leading venture capitalists. ZenMate is best known for their software that encrypts your web browsing by routing your activities through their secure network of servers to hide your IP address.
ZenMate’s technology provides you with 3 core-benefits: 1) Open-WiFi Hacking Protection, 2) Increased online privacy and 3) an unresticted and free Internet Experience and Access. A popular use for its software is to stream videos that are geo-filtered such as watching TV shows in America, when you are actually in Asia.
Their software is currently available for desktop apps (Win / Mac), Browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Opera as well as on Mobile for iOS or Android platforms. With this strategic alliance, DEC is making huge steps to deliver products into the pockets of users in this transformative era of technology.
Together with ZenMate, they are able to create a product that is not only portable, but also secured enough to shield the navigation experience while on the go. The current devices available in the marketplace are made to just protect online users as they navigate through the web, while design has been constantly kept off the drawing board.
Together, they envision that Navia will not only be secured from threats, but also so well designed that you would not mind showing it off in meetings or public places. The device will also be designed to be usable straight of the box without the need for installing any software.
As a result, Navia has the upmost potential of transforming the current VPN market into new business opportunities for all of the stakeholders involved.
